A Vigil in Memory of Late Governor Punjab; Salman Taseer

Centre for Human Rights Education along with its Alumni and other like minded organization participated in a vigil in front of Governor House Lahore on January 7, 2011 against the assassination of Mr. Salman Taseer, Governor of Punjab on the charges of Blasphemy.

Participants chanted slogans against the religiously motivated violence, especially the assassination of Mr. Salman Taseer, just because he had denounced the fake blasphemy charges against a Christian Woman Assia Bibi who was awarded death sentence

Addressing to the participants Mr. Samson Salamat, Director Centre for Human Rights Education said that the assassination of Governor Salman Taseer is a an attack on peoples fundamental freedoms and the citizen of Pakistan should not let this incident go un- noticed and should unite against the anti- human rights forces to save our future generations from religous extremism. We want a Pakistan where people are respected irrespective of cast, colour or creed.
